Nintendo has only shared a glimpse atThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2gameplay, but it’s fairly informative. While Nintendo clearly isn’t reinventing the first game’s highly successful formula, it’s still introducing plenty of new elements. Link will gain new powers unseen inThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,and he’ll explore new places largely founding in the sky islands now populating Hyrule’s sky. New monsters are also on the way. The first gameplay trailer gave fans a sneak peek at horned Bokoblins, new mechanical enemies, and so on. New monsters will be invaluable, since manyZeldafans have already experienced everythingBotWhas to offer by now.
New monsters aren’t just good for combat, however; they could rejuvenate the Fang and Bone.Breath of the Wildplayers laden with monster parts likely remember visiting the Fang and Bone and its monster-obsesssed proprietor, Kilton, in order to earn exclusive items in exchange for monster parts. Kilton wasn’t always easy to reach, but the Fang and Bone’s rewards were worth it.Breath of the Wild2is set in the sameHyrule, meaning many of the same characters are bound to return. Kilton should come back inBotW2and gain lots of new facilities inspired by the sequel’s expanded monster list.

How Breath of the Wild 2 Could Improve the Fang and Bone
The Fang and Bone served its purpose well inBotW2. Kilton’s monster disguises opened up some fun strategies for stealth-mindedZeldafans, while Monster Extract put a twist on cooking for fans looking to spice up their recipes. Armor collectors could alsoearn the Dark Set from Kilton. Ultimately, however, the Fang and Bone was a fairly limited store, since many of his items were single-time purchases. Kilton’s Medals of Honor offered a little more variety in interacting with the eccentric shopkeeper, but in general, he was a fringe character inBreath of the Wildwho could easily be overlooked.
Kilton’s monster obsession makes him a unique character, so he deserves a bigger place inBreath of the Wild 2. Luckily, the game’s new enemies give him the perfect opportunity to grow. Kilton would undoubtedly want to research the new monster that have arrived in Hyrule andBotW2’s sky islands. Horned Bokoblins, new constructs, and other new monsters could inspire Kilton to craft other useful weapons and armor with more varied uses than the monster disguises, encouraging Link to hunt these creatures.
Beyond new equipment, however,Breath of the Wild 2could turn Kilton into a more frequent questgiver. He might task Link with taking pictures of new monsters and hunting them for rare parts to assist with Kilton’s monster research. If Kilton makes an effort to understandBreath of the Wild 2’s new enemies, he could ultimately become a more important character overall. For instance, Zelda might bring Kilton into her circle of academics, much like Purah and Robbie who worked for the Royal Academic Lab. He’d fit in well alongside these other eccentric scientists, and his monster knowledge might be invaluable if Calamity Ganon’s army returns more powerful than ever.
Princess Zelda and Linkhave likely made efforts to rebuild Hyrule in the time between the first game and the sequel, and giving Kilton would be one good way to signify that.Breath of the Wild’s Hyrule was fragmented after the kingdom collapsed, so it wasn’t surprising that its peoples didn’t all work together. With Zelda back on the Hylian throne, however,Breath of the Wild 2might see alliances and teamwork define a second battle against Ganon in a Hyrule that’s on the mend. Giving Kilton a more important place inBreath of the Wild 2could signify how the world has changed while justifying more intricate mechanics for the Fang and Bone.
